Safari is a word long associated with Africa that conjures up thoughts of expeditions and journey’s.

KZN is the province of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, and is a perfect setting for a safari.

Within the province of KwaZulu Natal you can be surrounded by mountains, walk through savannah and ancient forest or relax on pristine white sand beaches. There is an abundance of ‘game’ that roams freely in protected areas. If you are lucky you may encounter one of, if not all of, the ‘Big 5’ which are, Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard and Buffalo. Even if you don’t have the luck of seeing these you will see a wealth of flora and fauna from thorn trees to dung beetles to bearded vultures. The big game is not only to be found on land; whales, sharks, dolphins and turtles are just off shore. If you glance into the sky, whilst travelling or visiting a protected area, you will probably be rewarded with the sight of some of the areas stunning birdlife. The province is also steeped in culture and history stemming from the Zulu people who you will meet on your journey.

This site has been produced to help, encourage travel and make it a real possibility for you the reader to safari in South Africa. The idea has evolved from over 20 years of travel to the province and our aim is to pass on our knowledge and experiences to you. If you are on a week’s holiday or a gap year, if you are a student or a family of four, you will find something to suit your budget. There are options on self-catering or luxury fully catered lodges.

SafariKZN is not a travel agent. We have travelled throughout the province covering thousands of kilometres and have visited many of the provinces protected areas. I have walked in the provinces inspiring UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Mountains & Isimangaliso Wetlands, and the Zululand wilderness. I have seen many animals and birds from both the comfort of a vehicle and on foot. I have also met and made friends with many people on my visits.

Without the assistance and help from several individuals and companies this site would not have been possible. We have recently ‘edited’ the site and have removed some of the more general pages to help us concentrate on KwaZulu Natal. We have added a new and exciting service. Our Safari Consulting page offers a unique one to one planning service aimed at giving you first hand experiences and information to help you get the most from your travels into KwaZulu Natal.

Please use our Safari Accommodation page. This enables readers to browse the provinces places to stay and book accommodation directly. All reviews (articles/blogs) are written following visits and are based on first hand experiences. After reading a review click on the link at the bottom of the page for the ‘facts & figures’ of where we have stayed.

Check out our Safari News page for the latest news from reserves within the province. Coming soon we aim to a new ‘blog’ page from writers who are based within KwaZulu Natal.

Take a look at us on Social media where we are active almost daily on Facebook & Twitter. We are also huge contributors on TripAdvisor.

If we can offer any advice or you need any additional information please do not hesitate to contact us.
